The Internet has become a staple in our daily lives, just the way televisions and telephones have. This also means that patients are increasingly requesting it as an additional service while they are in the hospital.
Patients, families and caregivers are increasingly interested in anytime access to an array of healthcare education, including the phlethora of information on their particular health situation. Internet connectivity enables patients to be more empowered during their hospital stay and more involved in their health outcome.
And beyond accessing news and health information, there's the entertainment value of the Internet with online games, chat rooms, and hobby related sites. After all, have you ever heard anyone complain that there's nothing good on the Internet?
And of course, electronic communication between patients and their loved ones, whether they be a few miles away or across the globe.
Hospitality Network has been working with several client hospitals to implement this new patient service. In doing so, hospitals are able to:
- connect patients to loved ones around the world;
- encourage patients active participation in their own health situation through access to information on the Internet; and,
- enhance patient satisfaction by offering additional patient services.
